7 Years

I have some laundry room updates, but today I’m taking a break to write about our anniversary!

David and I have been together for 13 years (this upcoming October) but today is our 7 year wedding anniversary.

In just 7 years we have lived in 4 states (Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, and Illinois), 7 cities, have moved a total of 8 times and have owned 4 homes. We have traveled the world from Hawaii, Tahiti, Mexico, Costa Rica, Greece, Canada and so much more. And most importantly we had two beautiful but wild boys!

Although this is not our forever home, this is the first year out of the 7 that we are actually settled- well settled is a loose term but there are no pending moves on the horizon so that’s settled for us!

I can’t wait to see what the next 7+ years brings!

Ghost Chairs

I have big boy news for you all but that will have to wait. Let’s talk ghost chairs!

When we built Owl Lane, we hired an interior designer to help furnish that giant home.  We thought we were going to be living there forever, so I really feel sick about how much we spent on her.  It was 4 years ago and I still can’t get over it.  Anyway, one of my favorite items we purchased was a new kitchen table and really awesome chairs.  To make a long story short, we ended up having a lot of issues with the chairs, so we decided to return both the table and the chairs.

In comes Compass Pointe

We loved the look of the Owl Lane dining set, so we looked long and hard for a similar one that was either better quality (which is shocking since we spent an arm and a leg on the entire set), or less expensive.  We ended up finding really inexpensive upholstered chairs which was also a bonus because the company David used to work for sold them.  However, we not thinking about the repercussions of our naughty cat Cheers.  While the new dining set looked great, the chairs were destroyed within a year.  The cat literally ripped them to shreds so we promised never to get upholstered anything again.

So, we didn’t hold up to that promise, but we did finally purchase chairs for the kitchen table that are not upholstered. In fact, they are ghost chairs, and I am in love.  The only issue we came across, is that the new chairs don’t work with our old table.  And by old I mean our 2-year-old table.  Yikes! We ordered a new table as well, but that is backordered until forever.  So, for now, we have beautiful new ghost chairs (minus one because it arrived damaged).  I think that they look great in the new kitchen and they will look even better when that new table arrives! The biggest bonus is that they are super easy to clean, and as uncomfortable as they look, they actually are really freaking comfortable.  Win win!
