Baby Jack

On September 1, 2019 we welcomed baby Jack Emmett into the world. He was 11 weeks as of yesterday and he is the sweetest, happiest, most handsome guy. We are all doing well, and just adjusting to being a family of 5.

David took 4 weeks off in September went back to work for 6 and is now off again for 6. Since I’m done “recovering”, he is going to spend a ton of time on house projects. Yay!

Until then, here’s some pictures of our new love.

Thank you Jessie Hearn Photography for capturing!

HBD Dax!

Happy second birthday to our Daxy boy!!!! You are wild, strong, stubborn, persistent, brave, hilarious, and smart, yet you still happen to be the most sensitive and sweet boy.  We love you more than words and can’t wait to celebrate with you all week…island style!

This is Four

I hope you all had a very Happy Thanksgiving! Is it just me or does it go by so fast? David took last week off because not only was it Thanksgiving, but it was also Eli’s 4th birthday. I seriously can’t believe he’s four, where has time gone? It’s been a long week celebrating and I’m relieved to get back to our routines- especially with eating, holy moly we ate a lot all week. We didn’t get as much house stuff done as we hoped for, but there was definitely some progress here and there. Stay tuned!

Anyway, happy belated Eli! We love you!!

MIA

You guys, it’s been about two weeks since I gave an update. It’s not that there hasn’t been any progress.  David installed the hardware and the light fixture in our laundry room and I will post about that soon.  But,  all of a sudden the season has quickly changed from Fall to winter, and with the snow and coldness, I needed him to clear out the garage so that I could park in there.

To be honest, I haven’t been too motivated to write or even read the blogs that I try to keep up on.  Not sure if I have mentioned this here or not, but I am from Los Angeles. I was born and raised there and lived there until I got married in 2011. I grew up in a suburb called Calabasas which is really close to Thousand Oaks.  The horrific shooting that occurred last week just put me in such a funk.  Between that and the shooting at the synagogue, it was just getting a little depressing looking at happy Instagram photos and reading blog posts about recipes and beauty and fashion while so many people were suffering.  I totally get that you have to live your life and unfortuntely these disgisting events are becoming the norm here, but I think that these two specifically hit home to me since my kids go to a Jewish preschool and since T.O is my home.

Then the devastating fires started.  It was heartbreaking to watch the news and read about the “Camp Fire”, but then the “Woolsey Fire” started.  I am so thankful that all of my family is safe, but it was really scary that they all needed to evacuate and to see the damage that has been done to my hometown.  My sister lives in Malibu and she still can’t go back to her house. It all just made me feel so helpless being so far and not being able to do anything. It also made me feel extremely unmotivated to do anything on the computer except for pay bills and check some emails.

Now that things have somewhat settled down, we have a very busy and fun weekend coming up and an even busier week next week! It’s Eli’s 4th birthday party on Saturday, and we are so excited that my dad is coming into town to celebrate.  He turned 60 today, so we will celebrate him too! Next week we have E’s birthday celebration at school, and then his actual birthday Wednesday, Thanksgiving on Thursday, and my family Hanukkah celebration on Saturday! Oy.

So bear with me as I am slow on the updates these days, I promise there will be more soon.  David is taking the week off so I am putting his butt to work!

Closet Doors

We had such a great time with family and celebrating my ONE year old’s birthday! He loves to eat and has never had sugar up until his birthday party, lets just say he wasn’t amused. I was really shocked actually.

Now that things are starting to calm down, I have some progress to share.  Eli’s room is complete, yes you read that correctly.  It has been a long long long time coming, but it looks amazing and we all love it so much. Once I fill all of his picture frames, I will share the adorable room with you.

As you all know by now how much my dog pees everywhere. It is just so beyond annoying, but I don’t really blame him.  He is probably stressed, plus he’s an old man.  Not sure if you have ever seen or listened to an 11 year old pug, but they are literally like grumpy old men! So cute.  What’s not cute, is the fact he likes to pee on anything that isn’t wood floor.  He was so used to peeing all over the carpet, and we ripped that out months ago.  Now, his only option is the carpeted basement (which is closed off so he can’t pee in there anymore), or on piles of clothes, towels, sheets, etc.  No, we don’t keep piles of stuff on the floor, however closets tend to have all of those items in them, and our closets have no doors.  Are you piecing his together yet? The pug goes to all of the doorless closets, and pees on everything he can possibly lift his leg on.  It’s been fun to deal with.

When our photographer came to take Dax’s one year photos, and my family coming in for Dax’s birthday, it was time to get those closets up and running. David managed to put up all of the doors except for in Dax’s room.  With Dax’s nap schedule, it’s hard to get in there to put the finishing touches on his room.

The doors look great, and make the halls and Eli’s room look so much more complete. They still need moldings to cover the track, some readjusting, and hardware, but the fact the dog can’t pee on everything anymore is a win for me!

I am looking forward to a weekend of getting more stuff done! Happy Friday!
