Fire Pit

For as long as I can remember, we have always wanted a built in fire pit in our yard.  It wasn’t worth it to build one in our Scoria yard, and we weren’t at Owl long enough to build one there, so we thought Compass Pointe was the perfect yard for this project.  We had a ton of visions for this huge yard.  We planned on building a modern patio under the deck that served as more of an outdoor living space.  We talked about potentially building an outdoor kitchen, and eventually a pool.  We had a neighborhood pool so there wasn’t too big of a rush on that. We thought about what we would get the most use of immediately, and we knew that we would use the fire pit all of the time.

David and I had the same vision and I think he did an excellent job at executing it.  We thought it would be a fairly simple project, and it wasn’t, but it was so worth it.  The best part about this project is that we only ended up using the fire pit once.  Yes you read that right, once! It was completed at the end of summer, David took a job in Chicago in the fall, and I wasn’t going to use it by myself during the week.  Fall turned to winter, and we moved to Chicago in the spring, so there went our dreams of sitting by the fire and roasting marshmallows.  I did hear from our new owners and apparently they use it all of the time, so I guess I feel a tad better about it now.IMG_4627IMG_4680IMG_5747
