Vacation

I swear I’m not neglecting this blog, but we just got back from a much needed vacation. Since we were gone there wasn’t much progress going on, but I swear our closet will be completed by next week. Well, it better be!!

If I had a choice, the closet will be completed, and next up our kitchen, pantry, Eli’s big boy room, laundry room, family room, office/playroom, mudroom, and then the exterior. But let’s be real, it totally won’t go that way.

Anyway, be on the lookout for a closet update- hopefully it isn’t two months from now (kidding!). In the mean time, look at these little cuties in vacay mode…

Major Progress

I finally have a major progress update! The painters are officially done, and all that our contractors have to do is the wallpaper in Eli’s room. It is so unbelievably refreshing to not have workers in our house all day.

The paint made all the difference in the world to this house. I am so beyond happy with it and can’t believe how fresh and bright it looks!  Now that it’s done, David can focus on his projects, and boy there are a lot. I am looking forward to focusing on one room at a time, and completing a room before we start another.  Next up, finishing our master closet! *We went with Benjamin Moore Gray Tint throughout the house and Benjamin Moore Chelsea Gray on our front door and stairs

When You Hire Out the Pantry

David and I got into countess arguments and fights about our pantry. I really wanted to hire it out, obviously David didn’t. We got numerous quotes, the highest being 9000. Yep, you read that right. No matter how much money we have, there is no way we could justify spending that. We got many other quotes and David was becoming more and more annoying. I think at one point he even told me he could have built the pantry by the time we finished getting quotes and making a decision. I doubt that is true since he’s still not finished with our walk in closet. Finally, after all of the arguing and fighting David decided to get his own quotes. Go figure, the quote David got was the winner. We got a great price and the pantry looks amazing. We finally are starting to fill it, and once we finish filling it we will make it pretty! It will be a busy and productive weekend for sure. If you have any good organization bin recommendations, or organization recs in general, help this girl out!

Stair and Entry Moldings

One thing I have always wanted in my homes was a grand entry way with beautiful moldings and a long staircase with a tall landing to see downstairs.  Unfortunately, our staircase kind of sucks.  It’s choppy and dark, and makes the house look and feel really small.  Oh well.  Since I couldn’t have the grand feeling like I wanted, David installed fabulous moldings to give it a little something something.  It looks beautiful and makes such a difference to the entry way.  The moldings are the first thing you see when you walk in and they definitely give that wow factor I hoped for.1dee3e0c-9aa2-4977-8479-1a8628ffdb9198005a9d-eca1-4949-9056-9475ea1d71434404b39c-1fb5-426a-9088-d45f7b57d5ef49133d93-c4d4-46ef-982d-cc6976d2e0180e46dbc8-441e-4e9b-a692-bde2a2296d1b34809ef1-bc15-4195-bb8d-7ddd1c61a44b

Remember Me?

Oh hey there! Remember me? Sorry I’ve been MIA. So much going on here I really can’t explain it. But what I will explain is how much progress has been made. So so much! This place is finally looking like there is an end in site but today, I’ll focus on the fireplace. I already mentioned it a while back (feels like decades ago).

Let me back track a little though. The painters started yesterday. We scheduled it two weeks ago so it’s not like it was a shock and last minute that they were coming this week. The problem was that David made other projects his priority and so all of the things that had to be done for the painters weren’t. To say it was an extremely busy weekend is an understatement. David was up until about 2 am Sunday night trying to get everything ready for the painters. He had to install all of the trim, the doors, the fireplace, and all of the moldings. Most of this got done but more on that in another post. This is about the fireplace- man I get sidetracked.

He shiplapped the entire fireplace and even though I originally wanted tile, now I’m in love with it! One decision we were contemplating was if we should put crown on the top or not, but we decided to do a small trim instead of a thick molding and I think it turned out great! The painters painted it today and it looks gorgeous. So so impressed. Also, not going to lie, David is soooo obsessed with his work. Ok, maybe proud is the better word choice. But either way it’s a great accomplishment and we are in love with it. I guess the only sucky part is we don’t get an actual “fireplace insert” until next year. Oh well, we can just look at it for now!15f278ee-43de-4c5e-b7fd-c89c200d80a2d4a05625-62c2-419c-ba76-e9db099f3ef6c719f09b-5bb2-4a3f-a74d-d3b7dd6ee96475fbaf10-6146-49f4-8cb6-d4fb8bdadae3029fda21-daa3-400b-9d2f-1624d11bfa39952e6b43-a3db-4f5b-9be1-cbd2bcb75ddb6eb07be8-770c-4597-9183-78ee030bd9ce
